Are there Heirloom Geraniums?

Today, while driving my husband & I got lost and landed in part of someone's farm. I saw growing in one area lovely geraniums with a color I have not seen before - it was more of a lavender pink. Could it be one of the older geraniums? In any case my husband took a cutting for me and I have planted it already on the hillside by my house. I read in the Rose Forum that there are people going to cementaries and old farms looking for old roses. Do people do that with geraniums?
