overwintered geraniums first-timer

I successfully overwintered a few geraniums I had last year. they grew leaves right away and seemed to be doing just fine. (I followed the instructions on the garden gate video I saw in this forum) I have been waiting to transplant them from their small pots with soiless mix to my bigger pots which I place outside. But, I am already getting blossoms! The plants are not as big and leafy as they were last year. Should I have moved them to a bigger pot with a soil mix sooner? Is there anyway to get the plants to leaf out more? It just seems like they should not be budding yet. i kind of forgot about them in the basement and did not pot them until the first of March, which is late according to the video. Could that be the problem? I would really like a more "lush" plant. any suggestions?

I usually pot mine in a hanging planter, some have 2 or 3 geraniums in a pot and I use potting soil w/fertilizer in and they are huge (the leaves) and going to bloom, I pot mine end of January or Feb. can't remember ........good luck and I'm sure they will grow bigger once there outside..

I have been overwintering my geraniums for several years now. I keep cutting off the buds so the plant's energy goes to making larger plants. When I see the leaves and plants getting bigger I let the buds grow and flower!

Good Luck!
