Colour scheme - what goes with red geraniums (pelargoniums)?

| Just posted this in the annuals forum, but this might be a better place........
I'd like to do a red-and-? colour scheme this year. I'll be using red geraniums. What are good companions for these? Ideally, I'd like something lower growing (no larger than geraniums) but I'm open to anything.
As for the colour, I don't want white. I love salmon, but how will that look with red? I also thought of yellows, and I saw nice orange Coleus that I could use in a partly shady area.
The area is full sun, well-drained, sandy soil. We have a sprinkler system, so dryness will not be a problem. There is one area under a crabapple that is part shade.

| I think red and purple look awesome together. Something like Verbena and the red geraniums would be pretty. Look up purple annuals. You might want to add some white in there to break it up a little. Have fun! Jen |

Yep, agree with the purple.
I am putting the red geraniums I grew from seed Jan 07 in front of the purple liatris in between blue fescue with alternating yellow dwarf french marigolds for my house border going to the pool area.
I had mildew on the verbena last year, although I love it, till August, lol. |

| I container planted a red geranium with deep purple petunia and chartreuse sweet potato vine. Looks awesome. |

No, Carol, the purple is perennial verbena. I'm not sure of the variety.
