red-legged 'Karmina'?

I planted several G. cantabrigiense "Karmina" last year and was so charmed by their perforamnce last year and this spring that I picked up another. I was surprised when I put them together. The flowers are the same shade of pinkish purple, but the new plant is much shorter--and has red stems! I can chalk up the shortness to different plant medium--I amended the soil as I never have before. But the year-old plant has green stems and the new plant has purplish red stems. Does Karmina generally have red stems and my existing plants perhaps don't get as much sun as the new plant did at the nursery?

Thanks.

Kirsten
