Ivy Geranium - what to do with them

At my church sale, I purchased some Ivy Geranium to help one of the members go on a school trip, but now I have no idea how to plant the thing. I am in zone 5a, so it won't survive in the winter.

If I plant it outside, is there a way to get a cutting so I can restart it next year?

If I plant it in a hanging basket, can I take it into my garage to overwinter?

You can treat them exactly as you would other Pelargoniums. Plant the same way. Grow the same way. And either take cuttings or overwinter in a frost free place. What colour did you get? Single or double?

I placed mine in container mixed with caladium. Ivy geranium or any geranium are treated as annuals in my zone region.
