 o
martha washington and the hot weather....

Posted by rinntintin z5, WA (My Page) on

I bought a bunch of Martha Washington flowers. Planted pots.....Climbed on the garden web to see what to feed and how far back to clip spent blooms. Can't find either answer. Plus...........

After reading the forums, have I read correctly? Am I to expect that once the summer heat hits, I can no longer expect blooms and the plant will die?

Thanks!

garden center says martha loves the sun

BTW, the reason I'm confused is my local nursery
center said that Martha Washington's love the sun. Dunno what to believe. What's true?

I had M. Washingtons for a couple of yrs. They have such beautiful flowers. But when the heat came they almost completely stopped blooming. They started up again in Sept. I had read also that they didn't bloom much at all during the hot months, so I haven't bought any more since then. I had mine in full sun and it grew great but just didn't bloom during the heat. They just aren't heat lovers.
