Planting Ivy Geraniums

First time growing ivy geraniums from seed and about to plant seedlings in garden. I intend to plant them under my front window in a wall garden and would like to get a full flowing effect. Please tell me how close should each plant be and also should I just plant them along the edge of the wall and fill in behind with other plants or should I plant the whole area with ivy leafs? The area of is about 12 feet long and 3 feet wide.
Thanks.

RE: Planting Ivy Geraniums

Blueit, you probably have planted your plants by now, but in case you have to make adjustments.

When I lived in zone 5, I used to have ivy geraniums on my front steps.

I had huge planters, and I would put each plant 4-5 inches from the other plant.

Since I wanted the trailing effect, I put something else in the back of the pots. I had lots of sedum Autumn Joy, and I would take cuttings of it. It was a way to have a big bang for the cheapest price.

Let us know how they turn out.
