Is anyone growing Ann Folkard in their gardens? Do you like it? What can you tell me about its habit, size, bloom time, color, etc?

Ann is blooming right now for me, started a week ago and will continue for a few more weeks, then sporadically. Her habit is rambling. I have her surrounded by perennials that she can ramble through or over. She isn't thick enough to shade them out, and they help shade her roots - important down here in z7B. Ann's leaves make her pretty even when not in bloom, and look good contrasting in texture and color with the stuff I have planted around her (chrysanthemum pacificum, asiatic lily 'Lolipop', tadescanta 'Purple Queen', nepeta 'Walkers Low', hymenocallis 'Tropical Giant'). Her central rosette of foliage is about 12 inches, and she will ramble over anything up to about 18 inches tall. Her flowers, a typical geranium magenta with a very visible black eye, really stand out against that foliage.

I love her, and have been surprised how well she has done this far south in nearly full sun (a little afternoon shade). I refrain from cutting her back for as long as possible, since her leaves turn red in winter.

I planted some in my front border. Can't wait til they start blooming. The pictures of them that I have seen online are beautiful.

I bought one last year. It started to flower on 7th July and went on for 22 weeks till 1st Nov. With another 2 weeks of just a few flowers. However it must depend on your climate. I am in the UK zone 8.

This year I have also got Patricia, which is similar but is rated by one well known gardiner as slightly better. It is a bit more red, more mound forming and is supposed to flower as long. So far it has lived up to its reputation.
