wimpy johnson's blue - help

Posted by njmomma z6 NJ (My Page) on

So, they are supposed to like full sun, but whenever the weather gets hot my johnson's blue starts wilting - and it has just been watered!

Should I move it to part shade? I believe this is the 2nd or 3rd summer I've had it so it's quite tall and even started a new little one near it.

Did I water it too much? It's in the 90's today and tomorrow and Monday - very hot this early in the season.

Thanks for any advice.

Hi Momma. Even if days are hot, make sure soil dries before adding more water.
Yes it's true Geraniums are sun lovers..they thrive in heat, but technically do best when nights are cooler. We have NO control of outdoor temps, of course.
Overwatering will cause wilt, too. Treat Geraniums as you would a succulent/cactus as far as watering goes.
If you place your geranium in a shady spot, (shady meaning really low light) chances are growth will be spindly, and plant won't bloom. Good luck, Toni
