Geraniums in freshly made concrete pots.

Can I put geraniums in new concrete pots or will they be harmed?

I'm making them right now.
I have 3 ready and have them out in the rain to leach them a bit. The pots are fairly thin so there isn't a lot of concrete.
I'm making several more.
I understand geraniums like a slightly acid soil so I was worried I might kill them. |

| hi, you can seal them before using them and its a good idea to do it no matter what plant you put in. have a look for a concrete sealer from the hardware store that dries clear and it will stop the pot from leaching. if you cant find a concrete sealer, you can use pva glue mixed about 50/50 with water. |

I have a couple of concrete sealers but was worried they may be more toxic than the concrete.
I also have gallons of glue.
Maybe I'll try a different one on each pot.:) |

| hi tuf, Ive always sealed my concrete pots and Ive never noticed any problems from using it. It does seem to seep in and stay there so its never caused any problems. btw, do you have any pics of your pots at any of the forums? Id love to see a pic of your handmade pots |

| These pots are just experiments with colored concrete and shapes so they are a bit odd. I'm trying to figure out what colors I can get just using pigments. This ball will dry closer to the color of the blue chip below it. I have 3 of these odd balls but all different colors.
I also has 3 geraniums.:)

| wow, that is so funky, I love it! youll have to post another pic when the geraniums are in too, i bet they will look great in those pots |
