Scenteds chase mealy bugs?

The scented geraniums in the bay window, seem to have chased all the mealy bugs off the other houseplants, including a clivia. They've been gone for a year. Has anyone else had this experience?
Rosey, citrusy, and piney scents worked. Strawberry didn't.

Does anyone with scented geraniums have mealies within 3' of them?
Mealies on clivia are a death sentence. They are all gone.
