Leggy Irish geraniums

User

I have some geraniums which came originally from someone with Irish plants. They seem different to the ones found at the local nurseries, because these are pale green and they tend to grow in contorted shapes.

Recently I cut these back and am rooting the cuttings.

I cut them back to try to make them BUSH.

Only one of my original cuttings bloomed, and it was a soft pink color.

Can I expect these plants to be sprawling and more at home on a tall plant stand where their branches can droop? Can I put them outside to make them "green up?" Should I protect them from the heat, since they don't seem to like hot sun as the deep green American cousins do? For the last year I've kept them in an east-facing window, or put them on an umbrella-covered patio table outdoors, but now have them in a tray on a table near a big western window. Nothing makes them darker, but they have lovely fuzzy soft green leaves.

Anyone know what kind of geranium/pelargonium I have? When I break off leaves, there is a heavy geranium scent.

I'd post a photo, only I've forgotten how to do that on GW.
