2 Questions about geraniums

Okay I am in zone 7, and just got a couple of scented geraniums, First question: Is it too cold in my zone to leave my geraniums outside for the winter. I have them in pots, and can move them around if needed, 2nd question, I'm reading advice to take cuttings, and root them, am I understanding this wrong but is geraniums only good for one year, or can I winter my geraniums inside as a whole plant if I can't winter outside? I don't want to have to deal with hanging geraniums upside down in a cold dark place or bag them in paper bags for the winter, Please help me with this, Thanks, Jen
