Question about stroign geraniums over winter

Hi I have been reading about storing geranium over the winter. I am wondering if i dig a hole in the yard put a layer of sand and then leaves around the pots and maybe a board over the top to keep out most water could the plants possibly survive?
I do not have room in my house for plants.
Any thoughts?

RE: Question about stroign geraniums over winter

Well, considering most plants need some light and air, I doubt that they would. Try this link which deals with overwintering geraniums. There are four parts to these little videos; they are most helpful.

Here is a link that might be useful: Garden Gate
