When to pot up cuttings, and what size pots?

I took cuttings from my ivy geraniums (thanks to all the great information here!) 3 weeks ago which are now in 2 inch pots. They seem to be doing fine so far.

They are staying inside under lights this winter...I am wondering how soon to pot them up? and is there any reason I can't move them directly into their hanging baskets? or do they need to be wintered over in something smaller? (Plan to put 5-6 cuttings into each 10 inch basket).

thanks for the help... this is something new for me and very exciting!

Kristen, since they have no need to be rushed into a large pot.....which would not do well by their emerging roots, I suggest you go up only to a 4" pot until you are ready to put them outside in May. Such a sized pot will do nicely by your seedlings. They can be best kept in a moist state--no danger of overwatering in the small pot, less chance of rotting or mildew. Fertilizing can be better controlled for the size of the cutting.
