it happens with AVs when they do not bloom true first time. I didn't hear about streps to have the same "feature". Sometimes they sport - and fantasy streps lose their fantasy. Usually it happens to the old strep - and if you take a cutting from a leaf that gave true bloom - the babies will probably come true. Sport of BPG will be still a beautiful perivinkle blue. You wait for more bloom - and if they still do not have fantasy - you can contact Rob and ask him to send a replacement.

B.Party Girl is pretty wide spread - so very possible some of your friends from the club (if you do not belong to the club - good thing to join) - have this strep.It is one of the easiest to propagate, the leaves root really fast.

I have this strep, and not every flower has fantasy on it. I just went over and looked at my plant -- it has 4 flowers open, of which 2 have a respectable amount of fantasy, one flower has just one pink streak, and one is completely pinkless. It's always been like that, since its very first flowers. I think fantasy streps vary in the amount of fantasy they get. I only have two of them, Party Girl and Pajama Party, so my comparison is based on limited experience -- but Pajama Party always has tons of fantasy -- every single flower has fantasy on every single lobe, maybe 1/3 of the flower is fantasy color. Party Girl, on the other hand, is quite shy with fantasy -- not every flower gets it, and there is much less of it. But on the other hand, Party Girl has a much more stunning color combination, so it's still a great plant! In any case, I would definitely wait for a few more flowers before writing the plant off.
