I suspect it is Aeschynanthus lobbianus from your description. See if you can find your plant at the Gesneriad Reference Web. Go to the genera page and select aeschynanthus to see all the thumbnail pictures. Click on the thumbnail pictures to see the enlangements and read the notes.

it does look alot like a. lobbianus except the leaves on mine are much more plum colored with very little of the green showing except on very new leaves. maybe it's a hybrid? the flowers look alot like lobbianus. i wasn't able to find a true match on the website or even in google picture search.
