You are good! You sure have a special touch with them.

- did you repot them? it is a good time to repot them in a new soil and a bigger pot right when they are waking up. I think every time they wake up - they grow new roots, the old roots are dead.

When they start new shoots - cut off one new shoot and root it - loose humid soil under the baggie - and you will have a new plant.

One of our sinningia lovers has a tuber that is size of a saucer - and when it comes to bloom - it is a bush. (Florist gloxinia is actually Sinnigia speciosa, if I spell it correct)

Hopefully somebody will give you an advice more specific to Gloxinias. I know that it is possible to cut the old tuber to pieces with a new bud in each, dust the cuts with a fungicide and have several divisions growing. But I never tried it myself.

Thanks Irina, I guess I will try to repot them, I believe that being very busy recently I might indeed missed two years ( or maybe even 3.... hehe time flies!). I was reading that people recommend African Violet Potting Mix... never tried it before... Any ideas about Potting Soil mix??

I think the basic gesneriad is the same as AVmix - you get a bag of AV soil and cut it with perlite and vermiculite 1;1;1. It is usually good for wicking. SInce you possibly bottom water your plant, you can go for a heavier mix - 2:1:1.

I do not know how far is Apex, North Carolina is from you. If you find time to go visit them - it would be a treat. Otherwise you can order soil from them, they have their own mix and it is very good.
