Hello, I'm new to lipstick plant but I sure want to have one for keep.
From reading some of the posts here, I understand that you can keep lipstick plants indoors, sort like you do with AVs. However, I'm sure if this is correct or not. Could you please advise how to grow this plant or better still direct me to some sites where I can learn in more details.
Many thanks.
Xuan (from Vietnam)
you can grow everything you can see on the beautiful pics of Domeman at home as well as outside - the same as violets - inside, in a light shade - outside.
Lipstick plant - Aeschynanthus - if you look at Mr.D. blog - A.marmoratus (longicalius), javanica and micranthus - are for baskets and make beautiful blooming plants - they want to be a bit potbound and mature before they throw their best blooming.
Aeschynanthus humilis - it blooms like Mr.D. Flaming Stars - it grows in a bushy form and can be kept as a regular widowsill plant.
Columneas - Mr.D. has one in his blog - have similar to habits - and can be spectacular blooming trailing plants as well.
Thank you Glen. I will look at your blog carefully to learn more about the lipstick plant. Thank you Irina. It's very kind of you giving detail explanation. I hope you don't mind if I will come back for more advise later when I have more time to dig into this. Xuan
