I haven't heard of anyone doing this but I could be uninformed. Tamiana tends to bloom continuously but a disbudding might induce it to throw up more than one inflorescence per crown. But, as for timing, I couldn't say. I would just give it lots of light and fertilizer and hope for the best. For maximum flower potential I like to grow tamiana as a group of seedlings--say three to five in a six inch bulb pan. That way, you have the potential for all the crowns to be putting up multiple flower stalks, making for quite a show.
What you could do is clip off the flowers that you know will be gone before the show, but leave the "clamshells" (my term for the cluster of buds enclosed in bracts) on in case they are going to have their flowers open at show time. Good Luck, Jon
