Help ID new basket please

Got a basket at the local market and have since seen the same thing at Home Depot with no name given. I think it looks like a member of the gesneriad family; specifically the foliage and blooms resemble a purple/blue single African violet with the exception that the bloom is on a very long thin gracefully arching stem. I have digital pix if someone can tell me how to send with a post. Thanks. Carol

Try looking at photos on the Gesneriad Reference Web. If you don't find your plant you will get to see all kinds of other fascinating plants. I am just making a wild guess, but I would suggest first looking at photos of streptocarpella cvs. They may be listed under streptocarpus on that site though. S. 'Good Hope' or 'Concord Blue' are often raised as commercial basket plants.

Here is a link that might be useful: Gesneriad Reference Web

Roselady, I'll bet you a nickel that it's Streptocarpella. Probably 'Concord Blue'. Are the leaves neatly shaped and furry? If so, yeppers, it is. You can confirm it on the Gesneriad Reference Web.

Good luck and have fun!

RE: Help ID new basket please

Thanks to Jon and Korina for IDing my basket. I believe it is indeed Streptocarpella Concord Blue.

I saw this ONE basket outside the store with all their ordinary baskets and was struck with its beauty. Paid for groceries and went home, only then remembering that gorgeous basket left behind and un-parented. Well, I hemmed and hawed around for awhile and, you guessed it!, went back to the store and, fortunately, it was still there and is now happily blooming [and shedding] on my patio. Have already started cuttings from it. Family was quite amused at me.
While I was googling pictures, I found lots of other streptocarpellae that I liked, in particular a bright red one that I wish I had. I could really get into these beauties.
Thanks again, Carol
