I was also gifted with this plant. Can anyone give me specific care for it? Should I pinch out centers to make it bushy?
Thanks,
Linda |

| Linda - It is high humidity plant - I keep mine in a fish tank (possibly you have more than enough of air moisture in TN). You can pinch it and reroot in a baggie. But it never went too tall for me - so I never pinched just for appearance. It shoots extra stems from rhizomes - so it gets bushy on its own. I think they have a growing cycle then they become looking ratty, die back but come back from rhizomes - in my conditions. They bloom nicely and supposed to have some fragrance - too weak for my nose to register. I think the name got changed - it is Gloxinella Lindeniana now. Never tried it for under more than 2 lights - if anybody can say - may be it likes 4? When it is fresh in its cycle - leaves are fabulous. Irina |

| I did not own a computer in '06! LOL! Just received this plant in a trade, and know nothing about it. It's going in the fish bowl for now, but I need more info on watering/fertilizing, etc.So far, this is the most info I have found. Anyone currently growing it? |

| Yep - I still grow it. I use the basically the same stuff for it as fr AVs (I add milled sphagnum moss to the soil for rhizomatos and tuberous plants) but 1:1:1 AV soil works OK too. Same is fertilizing and light. It grows on the wick annd mat right now - but I have 60% humidity in my grow room. if you have less - i would put it under the dome or in a fish tank. Without fishes though. Have a nice weekend irina |

| And to be politically correct: GLOXINELLA LINDENIANA there was a redistribution of plants between the genera - to match current DNA facts on what is what. Fishes??? - dogs and cats are better - but they sure like to tip the plants. Irina |

Aha - just imagine - fly is hitting the window - cat in a hunting frenzy - everything is flying. Soil all over the place, plants are out of pots... I kept Nematanthus on the window sill - it is springy and not so easy to break. Dog...anything that's in a way of her tail flies too. Irina, the cat lady. |

| Hahahaha! But, Irina, I see you've never experienced 'bunnytude'! Yes, in the wild, they are cute furry, timid prey creatures, just trying to survive,However, house bunnies have a totally different agenda...domination and gratification. And they have their ways of alerting you when they decide you are not following the program! BTW, his preferred AV is a variegated std. LOL |
