Irina went to the Gesneriad convention this past week. When she gets back and checks this website I think she will know.
Its a very pretty bloom and I like the leaf shape. I can't tell the difference between columnea, aeschynanthus and nematanthus.

my first reaction was Aeschynanthus - to start with - their natural habitat is tropical Asia, while Columnea takes the same niche but in a New World.
I found a really nice explanation - it was actually posted by John Boggan 5 years ago on our forum. Hope it takes all the doubts out.
It is absolutely beautiful and the leaves are very interesting.

PS Tish - Nematanthus has very different flowers - they look like guppy fishes. Look at gesneriads.ca on GENUS
