Columnea blooms and name check

Posted by ks-girl 6 - Ks (My Page) on

My large plant is starting to bloom, it didn't have a name when I got it but from my research the only pictures I've found that look like it is Orange Sherbet.

Can anyone tell me if that's correct or have any other suggestions as to what it's name may be.

Thanks

KS-girl -

it is one gorgeous plant you have! And you can take it outside in KS!!! I am green from envy.

So many of them, I think 1200 in the wild, tons of hybrids, big box stores sell unnamed hybrids. I got 1 from Home Depot, it grew bushy, not trailing - and took it to the lady who has PhD in gesneriads and has a special interest in Columneas - and she told me - this is a hybrid - with very possibly this species in its ancestry. Duh...

The only way you could confirm that it is it - if you find somebody who grows it - and put them side by side. Or if you got it from a person - interrogate this person.

Still envious
