| I have read that some people root strep leaves in water, and that it can be quicker than in compost/perlite etc, and can lead to less rot problems.
Have you tried? How deep water? Do you enclose in plastic bag? How long did it take? |

| Hi there - To my knowledge it is not working... may be some varieties or species can root - but I do not know which - but all I see is rot. I sometimes keep the leaves in water - until I have time to pot them properly - they sit - and then they rot... It is a good idea to soak them for half an hour in a sweetened water to rehydrate before potting - but that's about it. They really root fast if you take a fresh leaf and stick it in a loose barely moist soil. Barely is a must - and plastic baggie on a top is a great idea. For me it is the best if I use the lower 3 inches of the leaf with a "stem". There is enough food stored in it and you get 1 baby but a strong one. Irina |
