Want to grow Giant Pumpkin in Hawaii

Posted by kaimiloa Hawaii (My Page) on

I was thinking of having a giant pumpkin growing contest at our school garden and am asking to see how much time/space we need to grow it and if anyone sees potential problems with this in Hawaii. We have a 90' x 30' garden with clay/sandy soil with average PH. Not too much rain before October but ready access to water. We start school in late July. I don't expect to grow 1000 pounders. Just big enough to get the kids in the garden club excited and maybe to auction off at the farmers market. Any comments?
