Where to buy Prizewinner Carolina Cross seeds ?

| Does anyone know of a good source for Carolina Cross watermelon seeds ? I'm looking for seeds from certified Prizewinners, rather than some run-of-the-mill seeds (which I've already got from last year). I'm trying to grow a 100+ pounder this year (got 37 and 47 pounds last year), so I want to maximize my chances of doing so.
I already found two websites:
www.pandpseed.com and
www.giantwatermelons.com
but I was looking for something more along the lines of what the giant pumpkin growers do, with specific people selling seeds from their specific prizewinners. Does such an outlet exist ? thanks in advance. |

| since Carolina cross are a hybrid , they wouldnt cross true, your best bet is to selectively grow from only the largest best tasting fruits,of a non hybrid plant |

| Perhaps they are de-hybridized. |

| i bought seed from "giant watermelon.com" this year and they are not doing as well as my store bought versions of the breed.they have been frozen, i'm not sure if that is the cause.2 tips for you- one melon per vine,,pull all others off,,,,,,,soaker hose versus sprinklers .i am experimenting with vine manipulation to produce larger fruit, but will not post the results untill the end of the season. best of luck |

| I believe that the "Kolbs Gem" Is a non hybrid that will grow to 100+ lbs. "Kolbs Gem" is actually one of the parents of the original carolina cross ..the authentic Kolbs Gem is a hard seed to find though. |
