AG vine growth problem

| Interesting problem here. My AG is growing on a hillside in a fenced-in area. The fence is about 3 feet uphill from the plant's crown. In other words, my goal is to grow the primary vine downhill.
Here's the funny thing. My first true leaf broke off, so I planted the seedling so that this (broken off) leaf pointed uphill, thinking the vine would grow downhill. Well, it's growing uphill ! Primary vine is about a foot or so long now. I have considered trying to gently rotate the vine but I don't think that's going to work.
Current plan is to wait until early evening (when it has cooled off) and essentially dig up the root ball very carefully and manually pick up the entire plant and rotate it 180 degrees, and then water the heck out of it.

I wouldn't. By now your "rootball" is 4ft x 4 ft minimum....you will disturb it and set it back more than if you just waited until it lands and gently manipulate it to the correct orientation.

too late. I dug it up and rotated it about an hour before you posted. Thanks anyway. It seems to be ok -- I lifted out an area about 2x2x2 feet. Went smoothly. Will update as time goes on. Interestingly, I noticed a female flower starting to form about a foot from the crown. A little too close I should think. Comments ?

Well, we had another hot day, approach 100F. Plant was completely wilted. Watered it heavily this afternoon; hoping for a recovery....

Plant has recovered. Grew 6" on primary vine (which is only 2 feet long right now). Looks healthy. Now watering 3x per day, 10 minutes each time, 5 2gph drippers. So I guess that's 1.6 gallons, 3 x per day. wow.

Seems to be recovering. Plant is still small though -- primary is about 4 feet long. No secondaries yet.
