RE: Giant Marrow Seeds?

I have seeds that Bernard Lavery gave me. They are capable of getting up to a 100+ pounds. Mine were only about 30 pounds, but I didn't do anything special with them and it was my first time trying to grow them.

I have pictures on my website

I thought Bernard was out of the seed business? I saw your pics and I was wondering is the plant a bush or vine? Looking Good. Ruedee.

He is out of the seed business, but I talk with him every now and then, and trade seeds with him.

My marrows all grow on vines. There are bush marrows, and vine marrows. The large marrows grow on vines. Many time you will see them listed as long green trailing marrow.

There are some nice pictures of some giant marrows at a vegetable show in the UK on bigpumpkins.com.

Giant Marrow X Globe Marrow

eseeds.com sells an interesting variety of marrow that I just recently purchased. It doesn't get large at all, but it is globe shaped, which is unusual for marrows.

I'm growing these globe marrows for food, but I was thinking of trying to cross them with the giant marrows. I'd like to see large marrows that are more pumpkin shaped. I might try this in 2005.

One thing that is funny about the link in this message is that eseeds.com has on the right of the page, a list of items 'people also bought' I looked at the list, and it's the order that I just purchased a few weeks ago. Hahaha! :-)

I have a 108Lavery seed growing right now. It is the seed that grew the world record 135lb marrow. Wouldn't it be nice if it repeated that feat.....dream, dream, dream....

I'm no entirely sure if those seeds are descendents from his world record marrow. He gave me two types of marrow. A smooth variety, and a bumpy variety that he calls, crocodile marrows. I'm growing the bumpy, crocodile marrows this year. If you bought your variety from P&P, then you have the smooth variety that I grew last year.

I have just joined Garden Web and I have had to use my Grandpa's details as I am only five and I want to grow a giant marrow and a giant pumpkin for my school competition.

I have been out collecting rotten horse poo with my Grandpa this morning and he has helped me to put it in the vegetable patch and I need to get some super seeds for later.

Please can you help with a few really good seeds.

I am happy to send you pictures of me and what I am up to.

I hope to hear from you. Thank you.
