Is Ginger good for a cut flower? Mine were in a lot of rain last year. They bloomed great guns, but turned brown-edged fast due to the rain. Wonder smell. oh, it is the common white butterfly with the honeysuckle smell.

RE: floral arrangements

Hedychium (butterfly gingers) are not good cut flowers. some will rebloom a bit when cut, but the individual flowers only last one day. Some gingers such as several Curcuma, Costus, zingiber, and Globba make excellent cut flowers. Globba winitii (mauve dancing girl ginger) and its similar looking relatives can last a month in a vase and still look good! (the inflorescence is what is colored and attractive, while the individual flowers still only last a day).
