I love & adore ginger in everything. I'd like to grow my own but I live in zone 6/7. I thought I would plant "woodland ginger" but when I researched it, reports said it is actually a carcinegenic (sp?)

I know there are many kinds of ginger that are simply ornamental. So it gets a bit confusing to me.

Is there a plant with a good ginger flavor that is safe to eat and cook with that will grow here? Any recommended sources?
