Alpinia Sanderae as houseplant?

| I have always admired gingers when I saw them at Lowe's or HD, especially the variegated varieties, but never got one because I thought they all got too tall. I have recently been reading about Alpinia Sanderae and found it only grows to 16." I'd love to have one as a houseplant. How do they do indoors year round? I've never had a ginger before. Any comments on your experiences, positive or negative with this ginger would really be appreciated!

| Not sure what you have been reading but, A. sanderae is an incorrect name. It should be A. vittata and gets to about 5 feet. Have no idea how it would do as a houseplant, but living in CA, seems to me it could live outside most of the year. |
