Is this plant happy growing as a houseplant? I'd like an easy-to-grow ginger for indoors. I'm in a dry climate but would mist and use a pebble tray. Is this enough? In the room where it would be, winter temps at night are around 60F, daytime around 65-68. Summertime the air cond. in there keeps it at or below 78F, day and night. If this is not a good choice, what other small growing (2-3') gingers with attractive (I love variegated too!) foliage would do well for me indoors? My plant room does get fresh air daily from a window if its not super cold, and a fan is constantly circulating the air. Thank you - any suggestions would be wonderful.

it should do fine, but it will grow outdoors here
why dont you grow something more exotic,as your temps are higher?
red cone ginger[alpinia, the one you see in hawaii],or burbidgea scheizocheila[small bright orange flowers]
