How much butterfly ginger root do I need?

What is the smallest size of butterfly ginger root that I can plant and still have it grow?

| Well, it's not butterfly ginger but I bought 4 of those little Hawaiian sovenier bags of alpina (red ginger). All 4 were placed in a 6 inch pot, and grew...and grew and now 2 years later they are a large clump (maybe 3 feet wide) that has been divided at least 4 times. I've also grown Hedy Flavum from seed, another fast grower! |
