| I have a couple gingers and the bulbs or whatever they're called, corms, rubers? They are almost exposed to the surface and I didn't plant them shallow. Do they like compost and mulch?
Thanks,

| Rhizomes.... It depends somewhat on what kind they are. If they are Hedychiums (butterfly gingers)they are not too picky about soil depth and will tolerate a fairly heavy mulch, but it is best to plant the rhizomes with the tops just at soil level. They LOVE compost, and rich organic soil and you can mulch around them but it is better not to cover the rhizomes with a heavy mulch. |
