| I was given a butterfly ginger a year ago. It is now over a foot long (rhizome) and on each end is a stem. Is the middle part of the rhizome "dead"? Can I cut it into pieces for more plants? Thanks. |

| Yes- cut it in half or in thirds. Each part should make more plants. When you dig it up, there should be pink "eyes" or nodes on it- those will be new shoots. |
