ginger plant identification query

Posted by leonR in New Orleans on 6/20/04. No one in my condo complex knows the type of ginger plant we have on premises. Looks like alpinia zerumbet - except the flower bearing stem does not droop downward but is vertical. Approx 7'x7'. Leaves entirely and always green; max 21"x4.5"; oblong; apice 1/2"; pinnate venation; margin is continuous but slightly undulating. Brief bloom of beautiful white shell-like flowers late April to early May. Is there a variey/cultivar of zerumbet does not drrop or is this some other alpinia species ?

Possibly Alpinia nutans. There are a couple of other possibilities but A. nutans is pretty common in the area.
