If I plant rhizome now, will it bloom this year?

| Hi there,
I'm finally getting around to building my new side garden! I know this is late for Sacramento, so I'm wondering... if I plant some budding rhizomes (eBay!) in the next couple of weeks, can I expect blooms this year?
Thanks! |

| Budding rhizomes of what? If you tell us what kind of ginger it will help us tell you what to expect. -Kyle |

| You have a fairly good chance of getting blooms this year if the rhizomes are large enough and healthy enough. The growing season where you are is long enough to allow for a late start. -Kyle |
