If I plant rhizome now, will it bloom this year?

Hi there,

I'm finally getting around to building my new side garden! I know this is late for Sacramento, so I'm wondering... if I plant some budding rhizomes (eBay!) in the next couple of weeks, can I expect blooms this year?

Thanks!

Budding rhizomes of what? If you tell us what kind of ginger it will help us tell you what to expect.

Ooops. Sorry! Hedychiums.

You have a fairly good chance of getting blooms this year if the rhizomes are large enough and healthy enough. The growing season where you are is long enough to allow for a late start.
