hi group, this species flowers from the rhizome,so was thinking,as i cant accomidate 15 feet tall growth!
would i be able to get this to flower,if i cut all stems off at say,6 feet?
i figure it is the rhizome size that would matter,as it does not flower on the growth stems??
what is your take on this?

RE: etlingera question

If you're talking E. elatior, gaza, it certainly does get huge. The trouble is if you cut the stems in half they tend to want to turn yellow and die back. Plus it looks seriously ugly.

How about growing one of the smaller species, like E. venusta or E. corneri? You can keep those 4-5' tall and the flowers are just as nice only shorter.
