Zingibers Not Up Yet

| Neither my Zingiber Neglectum "Jewel Pagoda" nor my Zingiber Sp. "Chiang Mai Princess" has come up yet.
I'm getting worried. Is this normal? I was very careful not to keep them wet over the winter and kept both inside my house for warmth. They are now in bright light under the shade of a porch.
Any suggestions or information would be appreciated.

| Kay, Didn't see your post before posting about CMP. All of my Zingibers are up but they were all later than the last two years. CMP is the only Zingiber that I have that is sending up inflos. Still waiting for first time blooms on Stenophyllus, Midnight, and Jewel Pagoda and a couple of more in which I have lost the identification tags. Steve |

| Dig down in the pot and check the rhizomes. Are they still firm or are they soft? Do you see any buds forming? Sometimes gingers can take a long time to come up. A quick check of the rhizome will tell you a lot however. -Kyle |

| Chiang Mai Princess must have been watching me type. A shoot was up this morning. Cross your fingers for me on the other one. I did dig it up carefully and take a look. It's not mushy but very small. |
