Fragrance Heaven

Near my back door there's a tall night jasmine (cestrum nocturnum) surrounded by a large clump of hedychium Kinkaku. I went out last night about 9PM, and the fragrance was overwhelming. The strong perfume of the jasmine was mingled with the soft smell of the ginger. It was very warm with high humidity, a perfect night for the fragrance to just sit there and build. Over the years, I've noticed that the jasmine bloom peaks at the full moon so you can see those thousands of flowers standing at attention. The hummingbird-like Sphinx Moths are not out yet, but in September and October they're covering the jasmine.

RE: Fragrance Heaven

Isn't it heaven! I have a white butterfly ginger and I just love the fragrance. I'm anxious to get more varieties of the hedychiums. I think I'm in love~
