Hi- Does ayone know if Alpinia purpurata Rosy Dawn make seeds or plantlets? I have seen 2 different deep rose (with short flower heads) Alpinias that have been identified as Rosy Dawn- 1 makes seeds only, 1 makes plantlets on the old flowers.
I have propagated them both, and now, don't know what I have!
Any help would be appreciated- gwenn

RE: Rosy Dawn

Hi Gwenn,

Rosy Dawn usually makes abundant seeds only, but occasionally makes a few plantlets too. Rosy Dawn is one selection of a series of "Kimi" hybrids from Hawaii, so there are others that are similar.
