costus barbados , no blooms.....

Hi - Does anyone know, how I could get my plant to bloom?
I have fertilized and watered.
It is about 2 ft. tall - but no blooms yet. thanks - tina_2

RE: costus barbados , no blooms.....

Costus Barbatus generally only blooms on second year growth so it has to be protected and make it through the winter before you'll see blooms. Every now and then, you might get one stalk to sport a bloom in late Sept. but that is rather rare.
