Are all gingers edible?

I will give a short answer but basicly no. But I don't thing any of them would be poisonous to eat. Just some more geared or grown for eating. Some species are certainly grown commercially for food comsumption. There are many post from earlier forums that would help you learn more about all the edible ones. Ok not such a short answer. Hope it helped.

It helped. Wasn't sure, came across something about growing a plant from a root bought at the grocers and was curious. Thank you.

I am a newbie - just posted a message -
I am growing 3 plants from 2 gingers i bought at the west indian bodega or wholefoods. it took a while to sprout but now they are 12 inch tall or so
