 o
yellow spots on my ginger leaves

Hi all,
I believe I have an alpina ginger (label just said ginger when I got it, and one came from home depot--I think it is the varigated shell ginger). Anyway, I put some of them in the ground where they get about 2 hours of morning sun. They are sending out new baby shoots, but the momma plants are getting yellow spots on the leaves. Also, the shell ginger was in a pot under the tree--same spot and it was doing great. Then, all of a sudden it started wilting (and dying) on me. I took it out of the pot and it was root bound (didn't take long for that to happen). I planted it next to the others, and that doesn't seem to help it. I hand water it about every other day and it is mostly in the shade. It is in good soil. Am I doing something wrong, or is it this heat and it will bounce back when it cools a bit? (I'm just west of Fort Worth, tx)
Thanks for any help and advice. I really like this plant and don't want to lose it (although HD has the 1 yr warranty on it, I would rather not use it)

Alison
