My wife grows a plant called "Ginger Lilly." It has beautiful white blossoms that have a very strong ginger odor. The roots look just like the ginger sold in the local gro.and has a ginger type flavor. Is this safe to season foods with?

RE: Is this safe to eat.?

No. The butterfly ginger is a Hedychium. The edible ginger is Zingiber. You can buy a root at the grocery store, plant it in a pot and grow your own.
