RE: Globba stem propagation

I'd like to know the answer to that too. I've never really tried it, although sometimes a cut stem in water will root or put out an unexpected bulbil at the leaf axil.

We've done Zingibers by laying the (leafless) stem flat and pressing it lightly into a tray of peat-perlite mix, so maybe the same method would work for Globbas too. You'd probably need to get the thickest, hardest stems you could find since they're comparative small for the family, but I've heard it's not that difficult. Just don't try to do it at the time of year the plant is starting to go dormant or they'll likely just shrivel up.

Hello Sir Phil,
We've never tried the Globbas, just zingibers, costus and hedychiums. I'll tell Richard to give it a go. I'd say on their sides would probably be your best bet. It was wonderful having you out the other day. Richard promised me we'd make it down your way soon. Haven't been here in a while usually on DG.
