Ginger and my wife

| My wife asked me how to grow ginger tonight. Since I had no clue I jumped on the forum.....I had no idea there were so many gingers. Can somebody give me the basics..I live in zone 5, my wife usaully uses ginger when she cooks. When do you plant it? How or where do you plant it? Soil prefence. Full Sun? Thanks for any help. |

| Since you're talking the culinary ginger, I would just grow it in a large pot. It is tender (will not survive zone 5 winters), so you'll have to bring it inside over winter. Just plant the rhizomes (that you buy at the grocery store) any time of the year. They take a while to get going. Don't overwater at first. |
