Dichorisandra Royal

I was at a Botanical garden up here in Canada

A plant labeled Dichorisandra Royal Queens Spiderwort caught my eye.

I was given a cutting by one of the attendants

But if it is a ginger not sure that it would be possible to grow, from a cutting

I do not usually post on the ginger forum but hope to have an opinion

I do have a home in Florida and do have some ginger growing there

Royal Queen Spiderwort

RE: Dichorisandra Royal

Dichorisandras aren't gingers. They are related to the Wandering Jew (Spiderwort). The common name for Dichorisandra thrysifoila is "Blue Ginger" but its a misnomer.

As long as you were given a cutting with a leaf node, you should be able to root it.

Thank you so much

You know I thought the stem looks like the stem of wandering jew

Will give it a serious try

Did so today actually
Do you think I should keep it in sun or shade

I really would like for it to take Quite unusual at least to me

I know bihai you are a most knowledgeable gardener

Having seen some of your posts and photos on other forums of Garden Web

Thanks a lot

RE: Dichorisandra Royal

I grow my Blue gingers in full sun
but they can also grow well in part sun
you'll get better growth and quicker flowering with more light/sun
