The peacock ginger is easy to grow in a pot, since it doesn't get real big. It is going to go naturally dormant, then you could stick it in your garage or whatever.

How to handle the Costus would really depend on the species. Probably any of them will do well inside without too much light, since most prefer the shade naturally; as long as you can keep it fairly humid, you should be ok. Some Costus would do very well in a pot, others would really get unwielding and hard to handle.

Thank you, minibim. The Costus is unwieldy already in its pot, but I've cut it back, since I bought it on a clearance rack and it was pretty ratty looking. I'm not sure of the species. It was just labelled Costus ginger.
